“Advocating for Change through the Legislative Process” 

The class will help participants —

  • understand the most recent bills and laws passed that affect them

  • understand the legislative process and how to lobby for their concerns 

  • learn the most effective practices on how to speak and write to their legislative representatives

  • learn to whom they should address their concerns 

  • learn how to tailor their messages to get the most attention

As AGE Director (Advocacy Group for Elders) of The Senior Source, Lynda Taylor Ender keeps up with issues that affect older adults, educates older adults on those issues, educates elected officials on the issues and networks with groups on common issues.  She is Secretary of the Texas Senior Advocacy Coalition, serves on Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson’s Senior Advisory Committee and was a past League of Women Voters –Texas Issue Chair for Health Care for Those of Lesser Means and Health Care for Older Adults. She has received many awards from various notable organizations in recognition of her work including the “Accomplishment in Advocacy” award by the Dallas County Adult Protective Services Community Board. In 2018, Dallas Parks & Recreation honored her with their “Empowerment of Women” award. She has taught in the public schools and is twice a graduate of North Texas State University.
